Waste Not, Want Not.

Updating Number 1

I've been intending to put these paintings on my blog for a while now. Given that I've done a reasonable amount of painting since we broke up, and the 'pending' files are mounting, I thought that I'd better get things moving.
This painting is currently sat in the cupboard at school. It has undergone several incarnations, because I have been unhappy with the results. I'm still not keen, and so may yet change again.
We'll see..

Incarnation #1.
York Street Scene

Nope. Time to paint over it..
Incarnation #2.
Much more colourful, painterly, and semi abstract..

 Detail
Nope.
Incarnation #3.
Coppergate...

Hmmm.
We'll see.

Semi Abstract Landscape.

Playing With Texture.

This is not based on any sketches or photos, it's a simple imagined landscape painted over a textured ground of tissue and texture paste.

Still playing.

More Sketchbook.

At least 15 of these have been turned into paintings.

 Nice to look back.
Drawing is a great way to feel that you know somewhere, but maybe it's time for me to simply draw for drawing's sake?

Packing

Looking Back Through My (homemade) Sketchbooks.

With the house move on hold until we get quotes from holidaying builders, leading hopefully to discussions with our vendors, we are living in a right old mess; the kitchen, bedrooms and other areas are piled with boxes. Still, much as I like to live in a tidy house, and usually do, the half completed packing hasn't included my painting gear too much, and I have been able to push a bit of paint around....with mixed results. It has also given me an opportunity to look back at some of my old sketchbooks. I don't do enough drawing (something I aim to rectify).
Visiting York College before the end of term, and thinking as a dept' about how we might change our approach to A Level, has made me want to try something a little more abstract. Maybe this should start at the drawing stage.
Anyway, I've photographed selected pages out of my sketchbooks over the last few (10?) years, and included them below. Most are observational, some are imagined, and a few have led to paintings, including an abstract landscape (to follow) completed at the start of this holiday.
